Forge
Forge is a long-running Java mod-loader ecosystem. Use Carry On files specifically labeled for Forge when your instance launches Forge.
Fabric
Fabric uses its own loader and mod ecosystem. Fabric-targeted Carry On builds should stay inside Fabric instances.
NeoForge
NeoForge is another loader family with its own release builds. Recent Carry On versions may provide separate NeoForge files.
The rule that prevents most mistakes
Match all three labels: Minecraft version, loader family and Carry On release. If one of those labels differs, stop and re-check before launching.
